It seems like every time Colombian musician Maluma posts something to Instagram, it starts a frenzy of thirst in the comments—and this week was no different. Yesterday, mere hours after sharing a photo of himself on a sun lounger in swimwear, the singer also uploaded a short video to his grid showing off a brief glimpse of his arm day workout.
In the clip, Maluma performs a set of bicep curls with a pair of dumbbells. And naturally, working out in the Colombian city of Medellín, where humidity is high, things can get a little hot and sweaty, so Maluma ditched his shirt, displaying a glistening torso with visible six-pack abs. But honestly, guys. He’s just staying healthy. We don’t see what the fuss is about at all.
OK, so the man looks good. But for Maluma, the key benefit of keeping up with a fitness regime is primarily about ensuring he is able to have the best possible mindset.
“Fitness goals? Being happy,” he told Men’s Health in 2019. “If you have a right mentality and a right way of thinking, everything is gonna go right… I love meditating. I think that’s a big part of my career. Just being focussed and concentrated. And being grateful. For me, that’s the most important thing ever.”
Consistency of habit is an important part of Maluma’s approach to health and fitness; he starts each day with the same breakfast—scrambled egg whites, chicken, onion, tomato, green juice, and coffee—followed by some variation of the same workout routine, which includes “a little bit of everything,” such as cycling, bodyweight movements, and weighted exercises.
Whatever it is, it’s working.
