3 reasons to watch ONE Battleground III

Here are three reasons you should make sure to tune in to ONE: Battleground III in Singapore.

ONE Championship keeps the action going with ONE: Battleground III on Aug. 27 live from Singapore. The event will feature a featherweight Muay Thai bout between Sitthichai and Tawanchai, a fight that was booked on short notice after a series of fight cancellations and opponent withdrawals. New fans to ONE Championship can expect fireworks in this matchup between two elite strikers.

The card also features up-and-coming stars Banma Duoji, Bi Nguyen, Jenelyn Olsim, and Tial Thang.

ONE: Battleground III is an event you won’t want to miss.

Sparks will fly in the main event between Sitthichai and Tawanchai

If there’s one thing that this card promises, it’s nonstop action in the ONE: Battleground III main event between elite Muay Thai featherweights Sitthichai and Tawanchai. After both of their original opponents withdrew from their previously-scheduled fights, the two strikers have agreed to meet on short notice for the sole purpose of entertaining the fans in an all-out war.

Sitthichai will make his ONE debut after a successful run in Glory that resulted in a long tenure as the promotion’s lightweight champion. Tawanchai, just 22 years old, will make his second appearance in the ONE cage after viciously knocking out Sean Clancy at ONE: Dangal back in May.

The winner of this matchup has the chance to face featherweight Muay Thai champion Petchmorakot down the line, and cement themselves as a star in ONE Championship.

Will Banma Duoji live up to the hype?

Duoji may not be a household name to most people who are fans of MMA around the world, but he is one of the most dominant young stars in China.

Duoji will make his ONE debut at catchweight against former strawweight world champion and Muay Thai legend Dejdamrong, a tough test for the 23-year-old. Duoji hasn’t fought professionally since 2019 but has accumulated a 10-2 record with all of his wins coming by knockout.

Duoji also has a backstory that fans can rally around. He grew up poor in a single-parent home in Tibet, beginning training at 18 years old and quickly developing into the athlete he is today. The co-main event at ONE: Battleground III features plenty of storylines and intrigue as to whether or not Duoji will be able to handle the big stage.

Bi Nguyen and Jenelyn Olsim vie for an atomweight contender spot

Midway through the ONE: Battleground III main card is a pivotal women’s atomweight matchup between Nguyen and Olsim, who are both looking to move one step closer to a potential title shot against the champion, Angela Lee.

Nguyen has had a bit of an up-and-down tenure in ONE, going 3-3 since making the move from KOTC in the United States. However, she’s riding high after narrowly winning a split decision over Ritu Phogat at ONE: Dangal earlier this year.

Olsim is a product of the promotion’s ONE Warrior Series, which features the top young prospects battling for a spot on the big stage. Olsim is a grappling specialist and finished her last fight against Maira Mazar by guillotine choke in her ONE debut at ONE: Fists of Fury 3.
